During January 2008 a sediment sequence from every of the four lakes was split lengthwise, documented macroscopically and digitally, scanned for magnetic susceptibility and XRF. After digital radiographies as well as line scan images were produced, cores were stored in D-tubes in the GEOPOLAR core repository for future sub-sampling. Preliminary results demonstrate that in all four lakes sediments are undisturbed and finely laminated therefore there exists a high potential to establish a precise and continuous chronology in calendar-years.
